Gender Empowerment

Gender empowerment is a focus for us in the next three years. With an average of 65% of our students being female and with 83% of female tea pickers facing domestic violence, we have a lot to do to ensure we offer the right kind and right level of support to both our female and our male students.

We are working to integrate gender empowerment into all of our lessons and systems, into our staff training and into the way we expect the local community to engage with our staff team and students. We are respectful of the culture and the country and the area, but do not accept that girls and young women have any less right to education, or to an ability to pursue their dreams. It is a fine line, but having a staff team packed full with incredible, independent role models certainly helps!
